April 1, 2006:
Art-in-Progress Party V:
Fools for Art

NEWS FLASH:
Disney is currently negotiating to buy Two Geeks Publishing because it has found that our principal title, "'The Adventures of Anti-Career Girl," has a massive untapped audience of workplace malcontents in every industrialized nation. We're talking blockbuster. Plans are well underway for an international marketing campaign featuring Anti-Career Girl comic books, animated movies (with associated soundtrack), podcasts, and a very exciting series of Artist Inaction FiguresTM (including Anna watching cable tv, Jane Lee surfing the Web for stylish boots, and Quincey playing World of Warcraft past 3 am).
The sale is scheduled to go through on April 2, at which point we the authors will become massively wealthy, will quit our day jobs, and will embark on exciting new full-time careers of artistic creation and baby tickling. Wishing to share the wealth with our friends, we urge you to bring your art--finished or in progress--to our April 1 Art-in-Progress Party, so that we can sign you up with Two Geeks Publishing and see to it that you are also co-opted by the MegaMediaConglomerate.
True or April fool?
Only one way to find out.
Come to ART-IN-PROGRESS PARTY V: FOOLS FOR ART!
Present your song, poem, sketch, textile, sculpture or story excerpt.
TIME LIMIT for prose readings--6 minutes (roughly 3 typed double-spaced pages).
Final versions accepted.
Unfinished work encouraged.
Full advantage of the explanation "it's just a draft/preliminary sketch" shall be taken.
As usual, our motto is:
NO EXCERPT TOO SHORT OR TOO UNPOLISHED.

(Applause accepted in lieu of art.)

Party begins: 7:30 pm
Presentations start: 8:15 pm (be there by then if at all possible)

Please send materials or links for archive to Marg.
